Power ratings

    Which do you think puts out more power per channel. A Pioneer Elite VSX-43TX Rated at 100w per channel or a Parasound HCA-855A which is rated at 85w per channel. My problem is I am using the Pioneer Elite right now as a amp for my pre/pro and I am looking at the Parasound to replace the Pioneer.

    Any Thoughts?

    I would think that the parasound would sound better over the onboard amps of the Pioneer. I think you would have to buy the Pioneer 49 to beat out the parasound. Just my opinion.

    Current is what drives the woofers and not Watts. And I suspect the 855 would have higher current outputs than the Pio especially at lower impedances which is where all the bass notes reside. So I am willing to bet my 2 cents on the Parasound being more powerful than the Elite, even though it looks weaker on paper.
