SVS Announces 3000 Series Subwoofers

SVS has announced a new 3000 Series of subwoofers. The models will include new high-excursion SVS drivers and 800 watts RMS, a 2,500+ watts peak power Sledge amplifier with discrete MOSFET output for “room-shaking bass with pinpoint control and accuracy.” The new subs will include technology grafted from the flagship 16-Ultra models with the company claiming that it is redefining reference subwoofer price/performance parameters.

SVS seems to be sticking to their guns on keeping their bang-for-buck ethos alive with this new series. The range includes the SB-3000 sealed cabinet subwoofer ($999.99 – 1099.99) and PB-3000 ported cabinet subwoofer ($1,399.99), and the company says that the new models feature advancements to the driver, amplifier, cabinet and overall user experience.

The 3000 Series are powered by Sledge STA-800D2 amplifiers combining high current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency, according to SVS. A 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56bit filtering is deployed, as well as advanced in-room tuning and the ability to achieve optimized frequency response curves.

Newly designed drivers are built for “punishment” and include a dual ferrite magnet motor assembly coming in at more than 25 lbs. and a 13-inch drive unit with long-throw parabolic surround for “extreme excursion, SPLs and longevity.” A lightweight aluminum venter cone with composite fiber dustcap promises to create tactile sonic energy without flexing or losing control.

The 3000 Series will also feature control and custom presets via the SVS subwoofer DSP smartphone app for Apple, Android and Amazon devices. SVS says its proprietary app is the most convenient way to control volume and access DSP functions, as well as allocating custom presets for one-touch tuning optimized for music, movies, gaming. Users can also adjust crossover frequencies, a three-band parametric EQ, polarity and room gain. Bluetooth connectivity allows full control when out of sight and bi-directional feedback shows adjustments in real time on both the app and rear panel subwoofer interface.

“SVS is further asserting its dominance in the home subwoofer market by deploying the most advanced technology and achieving unrivaled performance at a lower price range than ever before with the 3000 Series,” said Gary Yacoubian, SVS President and Managing Partner. “Our engineering team challenged themselves to bring reference subwoofer performance to new lows so more people could enjoy chest-thumping output, subterranean deep bass extension, pinpoint accuracy and all the benefits of a world-class subwoofer. I’m proud to say, mission accomplished. The 3000 Series are unmatched in performance for the price and well beyond.”
